Food Drive Host
The highest quality donated food items are always food drive donations from members of the community. Donated food is distributed to help families stretch their monthly food stamp allowance so they can achieve food security for the whole month.
Although government assistance is helpful to families who are food insecure, the assistance is limited. Most families and elderly have to stretch their resources at the end of each month.
This gap in resources results in families with children and the elderly skipping meals and not receiving the nutrition needed during the last week of each month.
Families and the elderly are always in need of nonperishable foods. Donated nonperishable items ensure Reaching the World can invest the limited resources available toward purchasing protein food items and essential paper products such as diapers, baby formula and toilet paper, items that is not allowed for purchase with government assistance.

DISTRIBUTION SPONSOR
Each month, Reaching the World distributes emergency food bags to more than 200 households.
The average cost of each monthly distribution is between $4,000 and $6,000. This cost does not include the nonperishable food items that have been donated from community food drives and received in-kind from local businesses.
The need for sponsorship is especially important during the religious holiday months, including Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
